Kipsy · 🎂 For home bakers

Order and profit tracking for home bakers

Cakes are sold by the kilo, made in hours, and priced by guesswork. Kipsy turns that into a number you can see.

A 1.5 kg cake is not one and a half times the work

Ingredients scale with weight. Piping, levelling, a tricky colour and the drive to deliver it do not. So the price per kilo that works for a plain 1 kg cake can quietly lose you money on a 2 kg one with a design on it — and by the time you notice, you have taken a dozen of them.

Most baking books end at the recipe. What is missing is the sum afterwards: this cake sold for this, the ingredients came to that, it took this long, and here is what was left for you.

An order in Kipsy showing what it sold for, what it cost and what was kept

What Kipsy does that a general app doesn't

Sells by weight, not just by piece

Set a price per kilo and what goes into one kilo. A 1.5 kg order works out its own price and its own ingredients — no calculator, no mental arithmetic at eleven at night.

Counts flour the way you buy it

Buy a 5 kg bag, use 400 g. Kipsy keeps the cost per gram from the price you actually paid, so each cake is costed at what the flour really cost you, not at today's shop price.

Knows an hour of decorating is not free

Record how long an order took and it shows what you earned per hour — the number that tells you whether custom work is worth taking.

Warns before you run out

Stock comes down as you bake. Cream, fondant and boxes tell you they are low before the Saturday rush finds out for you.

When a cake is cancelled

The advance is already in your hand and the order is off. Record the money going back against that order and the books stay straight — rather than a cancelled cake quietly staying on your month as money you earned.

A 1.5 kg chocolate truffle cake, worked through

Nothing invented — this is the arithmetic Kipsy does behind the order screen.

Questions home bakers ask

Can I price cakes by the kilo?

Yes. Set the price for one kilo and what goes into one kilo, and any weight is worked out from that — 0.5 kg, 1.5 kg, 2.25 kg. The ingredients scale with it too.

How do I know if custom cakes are worth the time?

Record how long an order took, and Kipsy divides what you kept by those hours. A plain cake and a three-tier custom one stop looking the same the moment you can see ₹600 an hour next to ₹180 an hour.

Can I send the customer a bill for an advance?

Yes. Record the advance against the order, and the bill shows what was paid and what is still due. It goes to WhatsApp as a picture or a PDF.
